Buzzard Picnic is currently looking for short fiction, memoir, essay, criticism, book and story reviews, and author interviews. Additionally,
relevant comic strips, art and/or design will be considered for publication.
Because Buzzard Picnic is a young venture, its thematic drive is still being worked out. I cannot tell you exactly what I am looking for, except
that I’ll know it when I see it. I want to be moved; I want the world described to me in a way that makes it both easily recognizable and new
and terrifying at the same time. My personal philosophy as an editor is that writing ability almost always trumps plot.
All pieces must be proofread and publication-ready. Buzzard Picnic will accept multiple submissions, but not work that has previously been
published. Please let us know upon submission whether a piece is under consideration by other magazines; if it is selected for publication at
another magazine before we have responded, we request that you notify us promptly of its acceptance elsewhere. (We will telepathically
congratulate you!)
Due to the volume of submissions, we will not be able to personally respond to each one. Submission acceptance will come by email approximately
8-12 weeks after the piece has been received by our editors.
